VOIP Phone Reset - Cisco 79xx

Changes from DTech Telecom may cause VOIP phones not to log call history or access the Corporate Directory.  A reset of the VOIP phone will resolve this issue.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Unplug the network cable to the phone that comes from the wall.

  2. Plug the cable back into the phone while holding the '#' key.

  3. Continue to hold down the '#' key until you see the amber speed dial buttons flash in sequence or a message appears asking to enter a key sequence.

  4. Press each of the following keys in order: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - * - 0 - #.

  5. The phone may ask if you want to save the current configuration.  If it does, select No.  Depending on the phone model, the display may go entirely black for a few seconds, then display the Cisco boot screen.

During the reset process, the phone will reboot several times as it downloads the necessary files from the Cisco phone server.
